The city of Pirque, located 27 kilometers south of Santiago, is the historical cradle where the Chilean guitarrón has lived in the hands of veterans like Manuel Chosto Ulloa and Santos Rubio, but there is also a new guard of guitarroneros and poets. Javier Riveros is in that front, as payador and guitarrón player, who learned to play in the workshops conducted by Alfonso Rubio in Puente Alto. Pircano by birth, he has known the guitarrón since his childhood through singing to the divine, and has been part of the National Guitarroneros Encounters held in the city since 2002, where he has shared with contemporary poets like Miguel Ibarra and also with older ones like Juan Carlos Bustamente and Pancho Astorga.
