OYSI

Oysi is an open invitation to participate in the rebirth of orality, the energy arising from collaboration and interconnectivity now changing the world. We are a new hybrid, a blog and social media site for the confluence between the arts, sciences & the wisdom traditions of oral cultures. Oysi is the flipside of Wikipedia. It offers an Oysipedia of oral knowledge focused on all the information left out of Wikipedia.

Oysi is an open invitation to participate in the great shift of awareness happening today. The world crisis calls for a change of perspective, and people everywhere are turning to the great wisdom traditions in search of meaning and guidance.

Transformation is a collective effort, born of multiple alliances of artists, scientists, students and workers with the indigenous. Oral cultures offer a unique contribution: the spiritual technology that allows the group intent to move from individual to collective consciousness. A wisdom based on listening.

Oysi's purpose is to honor the culture of listening, to empower the global movement with new potential. Oral cultures, 370 million strong, offer new insights that emerge from the contemplative wisdom traditions transmitted in a continuous line from father/mother to son/daughter since the beginning of time.

Today, oral cultures have taken the lead in preserving their languages and ecosystems. Environmentalists, conservationists, NGOs and religious organizations have joined in the struggle for environmental justice and cultural rights. However, peoples and cultures are at risk of disappearing. We propose to hear those who have been left out. Hearing them may bring about a Pachakuti of consciousness, a profound turnaround of our worldview. We invite artists and scholars, students and scientists to join the indigenous in their "minga de pensamiento", a collective quest for a new way of seeing the world. To join them is to discover that we are all indigenous. Humanity is One, and oral cultures are Us. What the world needs now is a shift in values, to put people's welfare above profit.

The purpose of Oysi is to support the preservation of oral cultures, allowing the transmission of ancient knowledge to new generations and the world.

Listening is the bridge, art and poetry the vehicle.
