Nelson Villanueva

Nelson Villanueva, flute dancer of the Caleu Chinese Dance, talks about how to get the sound out of the "china" flute, an instrument of pre-Columbian origin, still in use in the Aconcagua Valley in Central Chile. The flute has a single blowing hole and no openings for fingering, it produces a highly dissonant sound created to facilitate access to other states of consciousness. See "With my flute to the grave" by Claudio Mercado.
